Homeland Security

General Information

Even before the tragic events of September 11, 2001 NDIA has been very involved in subject matter now labeled “homeland security.”    Recognizing the commonalities between the defense and homeland security market places and in recognition of the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security, NDIA has revised its mission statement to address ‘first responders” and broaden its targeted sphere of influence from the traditional “national defense” to the more encompassing “national security.”

For the past several years, NDIA has conducted numerous activities specifically related to various aspects of homeland security.  Our current portfolio of homeland security-related events and activities is perhaps our broadest ever.  In addition to our HLS Division‘s annual Homeland Security Symposium and Exhibition, NDIA now produces a wide variety of homeland security-oriented conferences, symposia, exhibitions, workshops and “executive breakfast” events.  A close working relationship with the Science & Technology Directorate within DHS has resulted in an even greater expansion of our homeland security-oriented portfolio.  Sustained relationships with the national interagency Technical Support Working Group (TSWG) and the Office of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America’s Security Affairs (ASD, HD&ASA) further solidify NDIA’s role as the “go to” industry association for homeland security events and activities.    Stay abreast of these many events and activities by monitoring our online calendar at www.ndia.org/events .  Should you wish to learn more about NDIA’s Homeland Security Division, you can visit their web page at www.ndia.org/divisions .
